Water Colour Purist!

Purple Big-leaf Hydrangeas

As a water colour purist I prefer to paint from reality, and not from photographs, or slides. This makes the task much more interesting as I try to capture the nuances of the changing light while it is in that process of change.

I appreciate the softness and transparency of water colour painting and how the colours blend, sometimes unpredictably, unlike the stiffness of the oils or acrylics. I feel the colours flow from the brush under the pulses from the heart.
